Coaching Philosophy

Identify – Correct – Progress

The degree of physical, physiological, and performance adaptation that occurs during training is strongly related to the mechanical specificity, neuromuscular, and metabolic specificity of the training program. In other words if we want athletes to be prepared physically for competition they must train with intention. We must focus on increasing efficiency by eliminating compensation and wasted movement.  We then progress to activities that target increasing thresholds in the tissues so that the body can handle the stresses of the sport without breakdown.

The body is always adapting.  Our focus is to provide stimulus for positive adaptations to produce a mind and body necessary to compete under stress.

Zone!

Competitive level athletes typically need to perform at their peak during the “season” yet remain fit during the “off-season.”  For these individuals, we think about training in terms of three levels or zones, as represented by our logo:

Foundation Zone:  The base of our logo, below the horizontal green line, is where we start.  It represents how much time and effort we spend building and solidifying our client’s physical and mental foundation to handle the demands of competing at the peak. We are very thorough in Identifying muscular dysfunction and taking the appropriate measures to restore function.

Fit Zone:  The green line in our logo represents where we like to see our clients during those periods before and after they need to be at their peak.  The width of the line represents the time and effort that goes into keeping fit at that level.  We spend a significant amount of time Correcting cause for muscular dysfunction to restore normal function.

Peak Performance Zone:  The tip of our logo represents the shorter period of time that an athlete needs to perform during their season.  We work to have our clients attain their peak performance from the Fit Zone and bring them back following their season while also caring for any physical and mental issues that arise from the intense effort of being at their peak.  We Progress the athlete to handle enormous amounts of stress both physical and mental to handle to the requirements of the sport with minimal chance for breakdown.
